Egg Run
A car drives over rolling hills with an egg sitting loose on its roof. Hold the gas pedal on the right to drive forward and the brake pedal on the left to slow down and reverse. The egg slides along the roof whenever the car speeds up, slows down or lands, and the run ends if it slides off. The run also ends if the car lands on its nose or its roof. A speedometer sits at the bottom center of the stage, between the two pedals. A freeze button sits above the brake pedal and pins the egg to the tray for three seconds when you have a charge for it. Coins sit above the hills, frost pickups sit among them, and a checkered flag stands at the distance the cache owner chose. You choose which of five cars to drive in the garage before each run.

Two pedals. Gas is the one on the right and brake is the one on the left, and holding the brake once the car has stopped backs it up. Both are held rather than tapped, but long holds are what lose the egg, so think of them as pulses. Holding both at once is perfectly legal and is how you creep over the top of a steep climb.
The egg is not tied down. It sits in a shallow tray on the roof with a low rail at each end, and it slides whenever the car speeds up, slows down or lands. Gas pushes it back against the rear rail, brake pushes it forward against the front one, and a heavy landing can throw it either way.
A rail holds the egg, but only while you stop pushing. Keep the pedal down once the egg is already against a rail and it tips further and further over the lip, until it goes over and breaks on the road. So pulse the pedals: short presses, then let go and let the egg settle back flat.
The egg tells you how close it is. Upright and smiling is fine, leaning and worried is a warning, and cross eyed and halfway over the rail means lift off that pedal now. The other pedal brings it home: whichever rail it is pressed against, a touch of the opposite one pushes it back to the middle.
Landings are what end most runs. Going over a crest fast enough to leave the ground is fun and sometimes necessary, but the harder you come down, the harder the tray kicks the egg. A hard enough landing throws it clean above the rails, where nothing is holding it at all.
In the air the pedals do something else entirely. There are no wheels on the road to drive, so gas lifts the nose and brake drops it, and that is how you line the car up with the slope you are about to land on. Come down on the nose or on the roof instead and the car crashes, which ends the run just as surely as the egg going over. The dial between the pedals is your speed: the red end of it is where a crest starts throwing you.
Coins sit in arcs above the hills. They are your score, and inside a run they are also worth a freeze: every twenty five you collect hands you one charge. Frost pickups sit out on the road among them, rarer than a coin, and each one is a charge as well. Charges do not carry over to the next run, so a charge you are holding at the end of a run is one you should have spent.
A freeze pins the egg to the tray for three seconds. The button for it is on the left of the stage, above the brake, and it shows how many charges you are holding and how much of a running freeze is left. It does not slow the car down and it does not steer for you: it buys you one bad climb or one bad landing, and the egg comes out of it sitting exactly where it went in. There is a pause after one ends before the next can start, so three charges are three separate rescues rather than one long one.
There are five cars, and which one you drive is your choice and not the cache owner's. Open the garage from the card before a run. The one you start with is the yardstick: nothing about it is the best and nothing about it is the worst. The other four are unlocked with the coins you have collected across every run on this device, and each one gives something up for what it gains, so a faster car is a harder car to keep an egg on. Every cache can be finished in the car you already have, so a new car is a different drive and never an easier one.
The checkered flag stands at the distance the cache owner chose. Reaching it with the egg still aboard locks your reveal in, and it is safe from that moment even if the very next hill goes wrong. The road carries on afterward as bonus distance for your own best score.
On a keyboard, the right arrow or D is gas, the left arrow or A or the space bar is brake, F freezes the egg, and Escape pauses.
Sound and vibration are both off until you turn them on, with the two small buttons above the stage. Vibration needs its own switch on, and what it does depends on the phone. On an Android phone the buzzes tell the moments apart. On an iPhone or iPad the button is hidden, because a pedal is held down rather than tapped and iOS gives a web page no way to make a held control buzz.
